Dredging alleviates cyanobacterial blooms by weakening diversity maintenance of bacterioplankton community

چکیده

• Environmental adaptation of bacterioplankton decreased after dredging. Stochastic processes community increased Sediment total phosphorus mediated balance between stochasticity and determinism. Disentangling ecological mechanisms behind dredging is meaningful to implement environmental policy for improving water quality. However, assembly in response disturbance are poorly understood. Based on Illumine MiSeq sequencing multiple statistical analyses, we estimated interactions, functions, breadths, phylogenetic signals, clustering, before We found distinct change composition, comparable decreases diversity, functional redundancy conflicting interaction, relatively low weak The was affected by both stochastic deterministic dredging, but dominated a decisive factor balancing determinism Consequently, taxonomic ?-diversities exhibited higher contributions the trophic level represented chlorophyl ? than afterwards. Our results emphasized changes caused with nutrient loss drift playing important roles. These findings extend knowledge contribution diversity decipher maintenance which useful guiding mitigation cyanobacterial blooms.

Monitoring of Harmful Cyanobacterial Blooms

Nowcasting of harmful algal blooms is important both for the public and for environmental management purposes. In the Baltic Sea, summer blooms of nitrogen-fixing cyanobacteria, are regular phenomena but the past years intense and widespread blooms have caused major environmental concern due to its nuisance, increased nitrogen input and toxicity. One of the most abundant species Nodularia sp. c...

Allelopathic control of cyanobacterial blooms by periphyton biofilms.

Periphyton biofilms are natural mixtures comprised of photoautotrophic and heterotrophic complex microorganisms. In this work, the inhibition effects of periphyton biofilms on cyanobacterial blooms were studied in pilot and field trials. Results show that the cyanobacterial species responsible for the blooms had an upper nutrient concentration threshold, below which it could not effectively com...

Emerging health issues of cyanobacterial blooms.

This paper describes emerging issue related to cyanobacterial dynamics and toxicity and human health risks. Data show an increasing cyanobacteria expansion and dominance in many environments. However there are still few information on the toxic species fitness, or on the effects of specific drivers on toxin production. Open research fields are related to new exposure scenario (cyanotoxins i...

Controlling cyanobacterial harmful blooms in freshwater ecosystems

Cyanobacteria's long evolutionary history has enabled them to adapt to geochemical and climatic changes, and more recent human and climatic modifications of aquatic ecosystems, including nutrient over-enrichment, hydrologic modifications, and global warming. Harmful (toxic, hypoxia-generating, food web altering) cyanobacterial bloom (CyanoHAB) genera are controlled by the synergistic effects of...

Cyanobacterial community patterns as water quality Bioindicators

The main goal of this study was to examine the use of cyanobacteria for evaluating the quality of running water. Accordingly epilithic cyanobacterial communities were collected in Dez River and Ojeyreb drain in south of Iran. Samples were collected in two seasons: autumn and spring. Effective physical and chemical factors on the structure of cyanobacterial communities and the dispersi...
